Project Summary

This watershed project was created and developed by students wanting to preserve their local freshwater resources and it has grown to involve a long list of classrooms and community partners. Our research is focused on understanding how invasive species are changing our local freshwater ecosystems. With the help of partnering researchers, we have created a time series research project that monitors seven locations on the Thunder Bay River watershed. Each year we test each site twice (Fall and Spring), and post that data on our project website. Each year the students evaluate their data and develop their own research question based on the data and observations they have collected. They compare that data to previous years for possible changes that might require investigating.
